Docs Using Nota
Delivery and undo
Check whether your words landed, recover them with Copy, and remove the last insertion when needed.
After transcription, Nota tries to put the text into the field you were using. Delivery checking helps distinguish a successful paste from a field that ignored it. When automatic insertion cannot finish safely, the result can stay available with a Copy button.
Check that the words landed
Open Settings › Pasting for delivery-check settings. Nota can inspect a suitable field after the paste and keep an undo point for the inserted block. Some custom editors do not expose enough information through Accessibility for a reliable check.
If the target changes, insertion is refused, or the app does not accept the paste, use the result window's Copy action and paste the text yourself. Repeated failures can make Nota prefer clipboard delivery for that app. Text is not silently pasted into a different field just to complete the operation.
Paste anyway, when offered, still respects the password-field protection. See Privacy.
Remove the last insertion
- Assign Remove last dictation on the Shortcuts page.
- After a dictation has been inserted, use that shortcut to remove the inserted block when Nota can still match it in the original field.
- If the insertion was a successful Voice Edit replacement, the undo point can restore the original selection.
With spoken undo enabled in the pasting settings, a separate dictation consisting of “scratch that”, or a supported phrase in your spoken language, can request the same action. Nota may refuse if the field changed or it cannot safely identify its last insertion.
Undo a cancellation is different
Undo after an Esc cancellation processes the cancelled recording again. Remove last dictation removes text that was already inserted. The destination app's own ⌘Z is a third, app-specific action. See Shortcuts.
Keep or replace the clipboard
The Keep clipboard content setting restores what you had copied after Nota uses the clipboard to paste. If you copy something new during that delay, Nota leaves the new content alone. Increase the restore delay if a slow app needs more time to accept the paste.
